The Johannesburg-based Company, Nampak Ltd. had inked a deal with partners to build glass-bottle manufacturing plants in Nigeria and Ethiopia, Bloomberg reported. Andre De Ruyter, Chief Executive Officer of Nampak Ltd., told Bloomberg that Nampak had signed a preliminary agreement with a partner factory in Ethiopia and is looking for USD 68 million for the project. He also said Nampak’s presence in Ethiopia helps supply glasses for companies such as brewer Heineken NV and Coca-Cola Inc. De Ruyter states, sub-Saharan Africa is creating a growing market for can and bottle manufacturers by becoming consumers of packaged goods. Nampak is the largest beverage can producer in Africa.
